Jo attended the University of Sussex, completing an honours degree in Social Anthropology with Development Studies followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Law 2003. Jo worked as a Solicitor specialising in employment law until 2012, most recently as an Associate at a well renowned Sussex law firm.

In 2012, Jo left the legal profession to help her husband run the family business, a bagel bakery and small chain of shops. During the last six years, Jo and her husband have introduced compostable packaging and vegan specials as well as starting an award winning beer company that brews bread using leftover bagels (reducing food waste) and introducing a ‘pay it forward’ scheme, to help feed the homeless in collaboration with a local housing charity.

From 2016 to 2017, Jo spent a year working part time for Green MEP, Keith Taylor, as his Regional Liaison Officer for Sussex and Surrey. Jo has been involved in various green campaigns across the South East including opposing unnecessary road building and oil drilling and campaigning for fair funding for schools and proportional representation.

Jo joined the Green party in 2016, motivated by the result of the EU referendum and the murder of Jo Cox. She stood for election in the 2017 general election securing the second highest Green vote in Sussex."
